Black Ramen Burger

 

INGREDIENTS

  • Ground Turkey

  • Black Ramen (any ramen will do)

  • Tomato

  • Lettuce

  • Onion

  • Horseradish Cheddar

  • Eggs

  • Hot Sauce

  • Cooking Spray

  • Olive or Vegetable Oil

  • Porcini Powder

  • Salt

  • Pepper

Of the 7.674 billion people living on this earth, 99% of them love burgers. While is this no a true fact, I feel like it should be. What’s not to love about the burger. Today they come in all shapes and sizes, varying in proteins, fixings, cheese, and buns. I’m a huge fan of burgers and while I didn’t have all of the ingredients for a traditional burger, I was able to make do and my burger rather unique. Here we have the Black Ramen Turkey Burger.

Black Ramen Burger: The Process

Burger Essentials

Equipment:

  1. Knife

  2. Cutting Board

Burger Essentials:

  • Wash your produce

  • Cut both the Tomato and the Onion on the bias at about a quarter to a half-inch thick, depending on your preference.

  • Tear a piece of lettuce off and set it aside.

The Ramen “Bun”

Equipment:

  1. Large Pot

  2. Large Pan (preferably nonstick)

  3. 4 Mason Jar Lids (just the lids, not the circular gasket)

  4. Tongs

  • In a large pot of boiling water, add salt and cook ramen as instructed on the packaging. Drain and rinse noodles with cold water.

  • In a large bowl, beat 2 eggs, salt, pepper, and porcini powder. Toss noodles with eggs until evenly coated.

  • Turn your stovetop burner to medium heat. In a large pan, pour enough olive oil to apply a thin coat to the bottom of the pan. With cooking spray, spray and then place the rings of 4 mason jar lids in the pan. Using tongs, fill each ring with the ramen mixture, then compact the “buns” by pressing down. Cook or about 4 minutes per side.

Turkey Burger:

Equipment:

  1. Large Pan (preferably nonstick)

  2. Spatula

  • Season your ground turkey with salt and pepper. Then form into patties.

  • Bring pan medium-high heat and coat the bottom of the pan with a thin layer of oil. When the oil is hot, add the turkey patties. Cook until the meat is cooked to your liking, about 4-5 minutes per side. Lastly, add the cheese to the patties, crank the heat to high, add about a tablespoon or two of water. Quickly cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and watch the cheese quickly melt. Remove patties and let them rest for a little.
